The 2026 Annual General Meeting took place on Sunday 1st March. Derek Johnson re elected as Chair, Mike Solomon re elected as Secreretary, the post of Treasurer is vacant. The rest of the committee remained – Peter Lowe, Pat Memery and Peter Cartman with the addition of Judith McLane.
The lawns have been set out for another season. Thanks to Terry, Dave, Don, Peter C and the two Derek’s we now have a full court on the Pavilion Lawn with a full and two half courts on the Clock Lawn. We open on Saturday 30th March as an open day playing multi variants of our sport – just come down and feel free to start you own games and others will join in on arrival! Have a good season.

It was sad to hear of the passing of Jack Shotton earlier this month (December 2023)
Jack (and his wife Betty)joined us in the early 1980’s until 1993 and was President in 1989 and 1990 when we moved to Cochrane Park University Sports ground. He was instrument in procuring 2 beach huts from Whitley Bay council which he and helpers joined together to make the Pavilion. He also manufactured a large storage box for the equipment and using material from his engineering company (Marland), ie: ships bearing material with pick axe helves he produced the famous Marland mallets of which he used all his playing life. Jack also contributed cartoons for the club monthly newsletter. He donated a handsome stainless steel coffee pot for use in the Marland AC competition. He was a very enthusiastic AC player and was quite agile around the court developing a 2/3 ball strategy which served him very well and made life difficult for his opponents at the end of his break!
Our Annual Dinner & Presentations took place at the Northumberland Golf Club on Wednesday 1st November 2023.

In his after dinner speech, Chair Peter Lowe announced that Sheila and Derek Watts have recieved Honorary Membership of the Club and also that Nora Burbridge had received the CA Diploma, all for long term service to the club.
